Changes to the Saturday lunch

With only 65 days until MATG XXIII comes together, we’d like to remind you of a pretty big update to our lunch offering.

Instead of serving a lunch with a date/time/expiration (and huge lines) we are going to be offering a gift card good for food, drinks and whatnot around the village! These will be handed out with registration at our tent similar to the infamous dash plaques: first come, first served.

General Etiquette Around MATG

With excitement building toward dragon season officially opening, we would like to take a second to remind you to drive within your own limits. With that said, a few guidelines to keep us all safe and make it home in one piece:

DO NOT CROSS THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINE
At all times, do not drive like an idiot.
Do not drive outside your own abilities, especially if you’re in a run and trying to keep up with the leader or the car ahead of you.
Don’t speed, these are public roads
At night and in low-visibility conditions, be very careful. Large wildlife can jump out of the woods in any curve, and people HAVE hit things like boar, bear, and deer. Hitting a 400 pound wild boar can ruin your weekend.
Slow in the Village. Fontana has a lot of families on vacation and small children running around, so be very careful and don’t drive fast in the Village
Pull Over!! If you have vehicles stacking up behind you, pull over in a safe area and let them pass. The Dragon has many paved pull-offs explicitly for this. Use them.
Beware of very large trucks. Though they’re illegal on the Dragon, they do still find their way up there from time to time, and they are still legal on all the other area roads. They take up a LOT of space, especially when trying to navigate the tight corners that the Miatas eat for lunch.

Also, we’re always looking for new ideas and volunteers to lead them.

One last item for today, we are looking for a volunteer to lead Thursday’s Sunset Run. Route and suggestions will be provided to help the inductee.

Run What Ya Brung!

We’re all proud of the rides we bring to Miatas at the Gap. Some of us have even had to bring their OTM’s. Either way, we’re just glad to see everyone come back year after year. It’s the people that make Miatas at the Gap what it is, after all!

That said: there are some of us who are attached enough to our cars that we’ve given them names. The Tick is Bryan Wyatt’s 2002 Laser Blue which is a little bit harlequin after its unfortunate 2017 shunt. Thanks to various members of the Miata community, Bryan and The Tick were able to attend The Tick’s 10th MATG event in 2018 and will be making it to this year’s event. If you happen to see Bryan, ask about signing The Tick’s (currently) white fender!
