35 Days until MATG 2017!

Today leaves us with only 35 days until MATG XXI!!!

We have had a hiccup that I’d like some help with please. The gentleman who lead the Fat Buddies Run last year will not be available to lead it this year.

Are there any of the regular attendees that would like to lead this run for us? I can provide maps and GPS directions if necessary. I know there are a lot of people that enjoy this run every year and I’m looking for someone from the community to step up and help out please.

36 days until MATG XXI!!!

Today leaves us with only 36 days until Miatas at the Gap 2017!

Today I’d like to remind you all about the annual MATG Raffle. We are currently collecting giveaway items from vendors and sponsors and have about $1500 worth already.

This year’s beneficiary for our raffle will be the Graham County Rescue Squad. They are responsible for all of Graham County and a few small areas of Swain County like NC28 from Fontana Dam to US129 at the Deal’s Gap Store, and US129 from the TN state line down to Cheoah Dam (Fugitive Bridge). They are an entirely volunteer driven organization, even including the chief and dispatcher.

Last year we were able to contribute nearly $2,400 to the Blount County Rescue Squad and I’d love to see us surpass that amount this year!

Raffle tickets will be available at the Registration Tent in the Vendors’ Area beside the Fontana Village General Store. Don’t forget to pick up the MATG XXI t-shirt while you’re there too!

Todays vendor spotlight, we take a look at V8 Roadsters, we are happy to have them back for Miatas At The Gap XXI!

Returning again this year, the guys at V8 Roadsters typically bring several different Miatas with GM V6 and V8s swapped in. They also offer custom tubluar sub-frames, lightweight billet control arms, big brake kits, bracing and suspension setups for all generations of Miatas.

Todays vendor spotlight, we look forward to bringing in another first time vendor. Scotty from Spinnywhoosh has attended previous MATG events and wanted to join the family for XXI.

Spinnywhoosh Graphics will be bringing along samples of their vinyl talents. From Miata (and other car scene) decals to window banners, large livery type applications like their Sakura kits and even autocross numbers; pre-orders and installation will be offered as well. If you need something in vinyl Spinnywhoosh will be able to help.

Cabins available at Fontana Village

This is just to let everyone know a small group cancelled their event at Fontana Village and I snagged the 3 cabins they had reserved.

These cabins are only available on the nights of Friday, August 4 and Saturday, August 5. They are not available on Thursday or Sunday.

But…. 3 Hemlock Cabins are available, first come, first served.

They are 2 bedrooms with a queen bed in one bedroom and two twin beds in the other bedroom. There is one full bathroom, a small kitchen, dining area, and sitting area. The cabins have AC and cable TV, but no phones.

The cabins are $149 per night, plus tax at our discounted rate. To reserve these cabins, you MUST call Fontana directly. The cabins are not available on their website. You can reach them at 800-849-2258. Make sure you tell them you’re with MATG, you can’t get the rate if you don’t.

There are no other cabins or lodge rooms available during the MATG weekend, so if you waited to make your reservations, this is your last chance!

A new addition for 2017 is Scratch-n-Sniff Parts Sales & Importing. They carry a large inventory of JDM Miata goodies and will be bringing parts along to purchase on-site. Don’t worry, large items can be shipped so you aren’t strapping bumpers to your roll bar.

Ride Rage always brings along custom powder coated Miata parts that show off their quality work again this year for MATG. You’ll likely see some of his handy work in the cars on display in the parking lot as well as the booth. Ride Rage is known for installing freshly powder coated parts while you wait. They are also willing to ship parts nationwide if what he has on hand doesn’t suit your fancy.
